Woodenbong Central School students who have shown interest are invited to join the Show Cattle Agriculture Team, held after school on Thursday afternoons at the Woodenbong Central School Agriculture Farm.

📅 Commences: Thursday 19 February 2026
📅 Concludes: Thursday 17 December 2026
⏰ Time: 3:30pm – 4:30pm
📍 Location: Woodenbong Central School Agriculture Farm
Unumgar Street, Woodenbong NSW 2476

The team will prepare show cattle to parade and groom steers at local shows throughout the Northern Rivers region.

Important Information:

🐄 Students will walk from school to the Ag Farm at 3:30pm under staff supervision.
🐄 Pick-up time is 4:40pm from the Ag Farm. Parents/carers are required to collect students promptly.
🐄 Parents will be notified if a session is cancelled (e.g. wet weather or staff absence).
🐄 This program will run throughout the school year.

What to Bring:

👕 A change of clothes (to protect school uniform)
👟 Flat, enclosed, comfortable footwear
💧 Water bottle
🥪 Snacks

🎖️ Careers School Visit – Australian Defence Force

Woodenbong Central School will be welcoming the Australian Defence Force for a Careers School Visit on Tuesday 21 July. 📅

This visit will give students the opportunity to learn more about career pathways, training opportunities and life in the Australian Defence Force. 👩‍✈️👨‍✈️

Students will hear about the wide range of roles available and gain valuable information to support their future career planning. 🌟

We look forward to welcoming the Australian Defence Force to our school.

🏀 Northern Rivers Zone Under 15s Basketball 2026

Woodenbong Central School students will have the opportunity to participate in the Northern Rivers Zone Under 15s Basketball event.

📅 Date: Thursday 23 July 2026
Time: 9:00 am – 2:30 pm
Please note: times may be adjusted depending on the event draw.
📍 Venue: Goonellabah Sports and Aquatic Centre

💰 Player Levy: $5.50
This levy is to be paid at the venue. Students are asked to please give their levy to their teacher on the day so the team payment can be made in one single payment.

🚗 Transport:
Parents and carers will need to provide private transport to and from the event.

👕 Uniform:
Students are to wear full sport uniform. A basketball singlet will be provided on the day. Please wear suitable footwear.

🍎 Food and Drink:
Canteen facilities will be available at the venue, although options may be limited. Students may wish to bring snacks and lunch. Please bring your own water bottle.

⚠️ Eligibility:
Students who have been placed on Formal Caution or Suspension within two weeks of this event are not eligible to participate.

Students in Years 10 to 12 are invited to attend the Connect Northern Rivers Careers Expo in Lismore.

📅 Date: Tuesday 28 July 2026
Time: 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
📍 Venue: Lismore Showgrounds, 116 Alexandra Parade, North Lismore NSW 2480

Held annually, the Connect Northern Rivers Careers Expo is the region’s premier careers event. It showcases career advice, further education, employment and training opportunities, helping students explore genuine long-term career pathways.

Students will have the opportunity to:

👩‍🔧 Speak with professionals working in industries they are passionate about
🔨 Take part in Try a Trade hands-on activities
🎓 Learn about university, TAFE and tertiary study options
💼 Explore apprenticeships, traineeships, employment and volunteer opportunities
🤝 Build valuable career networks and receive expert pathway advice

Exhibitors will include apprenticeship organisations, career pathway advisers, employers, universities, tertiary education providers, training providers and volunteer organisations.

🚌 Important Information

🚌 Transport: Students will travel to and from the venue by chartered bus.
👕 Dress code: Full school uniform
🍔 Food: Canteen facilities will be available at the venue.
🎒 Please bring: A small backpack and a fully charged mobile phone in case of emergencies or changes to finishing times.
📚 Educational outcomes: Career planning, pathway information and network building

💰 This excursion is subsidised by Connect Northern Rivers and is free for students.

Woodenbong Central School is inviting boys to participate in the Central Schools Boys Rugby League 7-a-side Gala Days at the Inverell Sporting Complex.

The gala days will be run by the NRL, along with a Central Schools Coordinator.

📅 Event Dates:
Open and Under 14 Years Boys: Monday 27 July 2026
Under 16 Years Boys: Tuesday 28 July 2026

Times at Inverell Sporting Complex:
Monday 27 July 2026, 9:30am – Tuesday 28 July 2026, 3:00pm

Please note: Students are only required to attend in Inverell on the day they play. Travel time has not been included. It takes around 4 hours to drive to Inverell.

👦 Age Groups:
Under 14 Boys – turning 13 or 14 in 2026
Under 16 Boys – turning 15 or 16 in 2026
Open Boys – turning 17 or 18 in 2026

Boys who are one year under the age group may be able to play up if an appropriate “playing up” form has been completed by parents/carers and approved by the Principal. This will only be approved for experienced players who regularly participate in contact sports.

🚗 Transport:
Parents/carers will need to organise transport for their child. Students are not to drive themselves to this event due to the distance involved and the impact of fatigue from contact sport.

👕 Dress Code:
Full sport uniform.

🍎 Food:
Students must provide their own food, as there will be no opportunities to purchase food.

Please Bring:
Mouthguard.

This year, Public Education Week will be held from Monday 3 August to Friday 7 August 2026 during Term 3, Week 3.

The 2026 theme is “Inspiring Excellence”, recognising the dedication, growth and achievements of students and staff across NSW public schools. ✨👏

📍 Lady Musgrave Island & Coral Cay, Southern Great Barrier Reef

We are excited to offer students in Years 8 to 11 the opportunity to attend an educational excursion to the Great Barrier Reef. 🌏✨

Students will take part in hands-on learning while exploring one of the world’s most remarkable natural wonders. They will learn about marine biodiversity, conservation, environmental responsibility, tourism and sustainability. 🪸🐠

An itinerary will be provided to families closer to the departure date. 📝
